Chabad Student Board

ashley.JPGAshley Kantor '09, President
My name is Ashley Kantor and I'm a senior majoring in Art History. I love having a home away from home at the Chabad House. Whether it's for a holiday, Shabbat dinner, or a kosher cooking night--just to name some of the programs at Chabad--I know that there is a warm, welcoming, Jewish place on campus where I can go.

My name is Daniel Buonaiuto, but most people call me Dandan. I love Chabad because it provides an intelligent place to explore my Jewish identity. It's also a great way to stay connected to rituals and holidays.

The first week of freshman year, I came to a Chabad BBQ. Since then, Chabad has become like a second home for me. Whether you're coming over for shabbat dinner, skiing, a Jewish medical ethics class, or just playing Simon Says with the kids, enjoy all Chabad has to offer and welcome to the family!

I first came to Chabad early in my freshman year and instantly fell in love with the entire experience - a warm inviting atmosphere, adorable children, and absolutely delicious food.  Chabad has become a little haven for me at Tufts and I can't wait for another great year!

I adore Chabad house because of the warm at home feeling that I get every time I set through that door. I am not that far from home, but far enough where going home isn't an easy task, and I love getting the comfort and loved feeling from everyone here at Chabad. Sharing shabbat dinner with my friends has made some amazing friday nights and and that's not forgetting to mention how delicious the butternut squash pie is!

As a Senior Chabad has been a very important part of my Tufts life.  It has given me the opportunity to celebrate my Jewish heritage in an atmosphere that feels like I am spending time with family.  I am a native of Stamford, CT and at Tufts am majoring in Classics and History. In addition to spending time at Chabad and in class I am a Captain of the Men's Swimming and Diving Team and a Co-Chair of the Tufts Programming Board.

What do I love about Chabad? The food, the people, the conversations, the homey feel, the family, the spirituality, the learning, the nigunim...What's not to love?! No matter who you are, where you come from, or how you practice Judaism...you're always welcome at Chabad!

My name is Ari Kobren and I'm from Silver Spring, Maryland. I love going to the Chabad House because of its unique, homelike, atmosphere. Whether I'm there Friday night to celebrate Shabbat, Sunday afternoon for one of the many barbecues or for any other reason, visiting Chabad is always a warm, relaxed and enjoyable experience. In many ways, the Chabad House is my home away from home!

I've been celebrating Shabbat and holidays with my family for years but Chabad is the only place where I can celebrate them with a group of students so open-minded and diverse. It's great - the crowd ranges from observant to traditional to just curious and everyone always brings something new to the table. (pun so intended.)

Friday night has, in my life, always been synonymous with warm, loving family dinners. It's meant coming home from a hard day at school and being able to remove myself from the insanity of the week and enjoy a home cooked meal and spiritual singing. Chabad has given me a continuation of this important part of my life here at Tufts, and I'm on board to help others experience the magic and warmth of Friday night at Chabad.

corina.jpgCorina Abadi '10, Holiday Chair
My name is Corina Abadi and I am currently a Junior majoring in Quantitative Economics. I am originally from Colombia and lived in Mexico for 9 years. I love the Chabad House because it is one of the few places where I feel at home and love the atmosphere!

ally.jpgAlly Gimbel '10, Holiday Chair
I'm a Tufts Junior majoring in English and minoring in Mass Communications and Media Studies. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Aside from school, I work at the Tufts Daily and Tufts Traveler, as well as eating as much butternut pie as I possibly can on Friday night's at Chabad. I love coming to the Chabad house because of its warm atmosphere and how it really reminds me of home. I feel like I can really connect to my Jewish roots there while being surrounded by great friends.

Laina cropped.jpgLaina Rosebrock '10, Holiday Chair
I'm currently a junior majoring in Cognitive and Brain Sciences and I love hanging out with friends, listening to music, and reading. What I love about chabad house, besides the delicious food of course, is the atmosphere. All the events are a good time and everyone is always very friendly. The Chabad House has become a home away from home, and it's truly due to you (Chanie) and Rabbi Tzvi being so welcoming.
