CONSTITUTION OF
CHABAD AT TUFTS UNIVERSITY.

Article I
Name
The official name for this organization is Chabad at Tufts University.

Article II
Purpose
 Chabad will provide the Tufts Community with opportunities to experience Judaism imbued with the vibrancy, intellectual depth, and vitality of Chassidic thought, philosophy, and Jewish Mysticism. Chabad will function entirely within the framework of authentic Halacha (Jewish code of law) and thus also serve the needs of students desiring a more traditional or orthodox Jewish experience.

Article III
Field of Membership
Section 1. Eligibility
 All currently enrolled undergraduate students at Tufts University are eligible for membership.
Graduate students and faculty members may also participate in programs and events however voting privileges are limited to currently registered undergraduate students.
Section 2. Requirements
 All members are required to demonstrate support for the purpose of this organization, and to in some way take part in its activities.
Section 3. Voting Eligibility
A. Members currently enrolled at Tufts University, who attended at least two activities within the semester in which the voting occurs, are eligible to vote.
Section 4.
 Our membership policy will not discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion or creed, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.

Article IV
Officers
Section 1. Office titles
The officers of the organization shall consist of: President, Vice President and Treasurer.
Section 2. Qualifications for holding office.
Officers must be eligible voting members of Chabad at Tufts.

Section 3. Duties of officers
President
 The president will call and chair all meetings of Chabad and produce all official correspondence.
Vice President
 The vice president shall chair any committees or task forces of the organization.
Treasurer
 The treasurer will maintain the financial records of Chabad at Tufts.
 
Section 4. Elections.
Nominations and election of officers will be held annually in the latter half of the spring semester. In case of a single candidate for office a vote of the existing officers will be sufficient for the candidate to assume the position.
Section 5. Terms of Office
The officers will hold office for a period of one year until the following election.
Section 7. Proxy voting.
If a vote is needed during an official break, proxy ballots via e-mail will be accepted.

Article V
Impeachment
Officers may be removed from office by a two thirds (2/3) vote, if they display conduct that is clearly detrimental to the organization or its purpose.

Article VI
Amendments
These by-laws may be amended with a two thirds (2/3) vote. Any change in the purpose of this organization will result in the dissolution the organization.

Article VII
Advisor
For advice and spiritual guidance, Chabad at Tufts will work with Rabbi Tzvi and Chani Backman of the Chabad House.
